Sumrall 200
Once a year usually the week after the Meltdown in June, Fred Sumrall, his family and the members of Ruts North put on an epic event. Hundreds of us Rusters from down south, up north, Utah and Nevada converge together in ForestHill, which is a few miles east of Auburn. Its a two day event but some of us lucky ones go there for a week. Its almost impossible to describe in words the sheer beauty and greatness this riding area and event is. Just ask someone who has been there. The trails are forest serviced marked and groomed at times. The traction is moist loamy red clay and the weather is allways perfect but the best thing is the Christian fellowship with all of the Ruts members from all over. Fred and his sons mark out a course for all of us to ride on Saturday. It starts out at camp and wanders through all the trails and ends at the end of trail 5. The fast guys will go on the two tougher trails, 5 and 6. We stop and have lunch together and then head back the way we came. The ride for Saturday is 70-100 miles long. On Sunday Fred takes the fast guys out for another 100 miles while the other riders ride the rest of the trails. Its riding at its best!
