Dove Springs April Club Ride

Camp will be in same location as last year. 4 miles past the MAIN Dove Springs turn off. Arrows will mark the way in starting Thursday night. See map below!

Arrive Friday and explore the miles of trails in the area. Look for the RUTS trailer and the RUTS flag when you arrive. Please sign in at the RUTS trailer upon arriving at camp.

Saturday AM we will have a riders meeting @ 9am. We will have maps for two rides you can do on your own, with friends, family or in groups. One will be an EASY ride to the Old Dutch Cleanser Mine and Burrow Schmidt’s Tunnels, with a side stop at Bickel Camp. These abandons mine and prospector’s camps are located 10-12 miles away on the other side of the 395. CROSS the highway with extreme caution! We will have BBQ lunch at Burrow Schmidt tunnel from 12noon-12:30pm.  Don’t be late! Its an easy 60-90 minute ride to the tunnel, longer if you stay a while at ODC Mine. The second map will be a longer more advanced ride in the upper sections of Dove Springs. This ride may not be suitable for side by sides, but there are alternative ways around the single track sections. The second ride will NOT be suitable for kids or beginners. Most riders will likely choose to do this ride around 2pm after returning from lunch. We will not be doing a large GROUP ride, but many smaller groups will be going on this loop, so find some friends and head out BEFORE 3pm. Sunset is @ 7pm, so you will want to give yourself 3 hours for the longer loop. You could also do the longer loop on Sunday morning.

On Saturday night from 5-7pm, we will apparel for sale (Jerseys, hats, sweatshirts, flags, coffee cups and stickers). CC and debit cards will be accepted. We will also have a USED gear sale. Bring all your used gear and donate it to the club. Bring it to the RUTS trailer on Saturday morning. All sales will benefit the club. Whatever is NOT sold may be returned or taken to good will. We have many people bringing gear out, so there might be quit a bit of it for sale! Please bring your used gear and help it get re-purposed while benefiting the club at the same time. We will need a few folding tables for this, so if you have any extras, please bring them.

Saturday night at 8pm we will have a POTLUCK DESERT. Bring your favorite yummy food to share around the campfire. Coffee and Hot Coco will be out as well. BRIG FIREWOOD if you have some!

Sunday morning we will have CHURCH in the desert at 8:30am shop. Bring your coffee and breakfast to the campfire… and your bibles!

Randy Hettema has been the trail boss for the Dove Springs Ride for many years and he has typically done a GPS treasure hunt for the kids. RUTS thanks him for his many years of selfless service and ministry to RUTS. We will NOT be doing the treasure hunt this year, as Randy has moved to Utah. Luckily Randy will be attending this year, but as a rider instead of a trail boss. We will still have fun and have lots of riding and fellowship, so come on out and say hello to your old friends and make some new ones. See you in Dove Springs.

Dont miss this annual 13 annual RUTS event, hosted by none other then Trailboss extraordinaire, Dave Beaumont. You cant beat riding in the Ridgecrest area exploring new mines and trails with one of Dave’s awesome maps in your pack. He will have a 5o mile int/adv loop and a 25 mile loop, more suitable for beginners and smaller bikes, with BOTH loops going through Randsburg. Arrive Friday and sign in, the poker run will be on Saturday and winners will be announced Saturday at our evening campfire / potluck desert. All event proceeds go to RUTS member missionaries currently serving YWAM in the Nation of Georgia. This is a donation only event. There is no entry fee. Come and ride, fellowship, eat and enjoy the desert with new and old RUTS friends. All are welcome, bring a friend, neighbor or invite your riding group.
