May Club Ride – Cougar Buttes

May 18th-20th

Join us at Cougar Buttes in Johnson Valley, to ride, camp and play in the rocks! If you have NOT been to the Buttes before, there are LOTS of trails to explore and NOBODY know the trails at the Buttes better then RUTS. For nearly 30 years, RUTS has camped and raced in the BUTTES. We will camp in the traditional RUTS camping area of Cougar Buttes, possibly where we used to have the KIDS race.
See MAP link below for driving directions.

Abe and Micah Baumann will be trailboss’s for the weekend. The Baumann’s will have Bday cake to celebrate Micah’s birthday after the campfire time on Saturday night. Abe can be reached at ‭(714) 336-0600‬

For our NEWER families:
Some of our annual rides have larger turnouts, organized trail rides with maps, bible studies or Sunday morning church in the dez….and some camp trips are a less organized gathering of friends in the desert to ride, camp and fellowship. This weekends ride may look more like a loose gathering of friends in a fun and familiar part of the desert. Come and make some new friends.

These abandons mine and prospector’s camps are located 10-12 miles away on the other side of the 395. CROSS the highway with extreme caution! We will also have a USED gear sale. Bring all your used gear and donate it to the club. Bring it to the RUTS trailer on Saturday morning. All sales will benefit the club. Whatever is NOT sold will be saved for next year. We have many people bringing gear out, so there might be quit a bit of it for sale! Please bring your used gear and help it get re-purposed while benefiting the club at the same time. We will need a few folding tables for this, so if you have any extras, please bring them.

Saturday night @ 7:30pm, Randy will lead a campfire devotional and we will follow it up at 8pm we will have a POTLUCK DESERT. Bring your favorite yummy food to share around the campfire. Coffee and Hot Coco will be out as well. BRING FIREWOOD if you have some!

Randy Hettema has been the trail boss for the Dove Springs Ride for many years and he has typically done a GPS treasure hunt for the kids int eh late afternoon around 4pm. We will play this by ear, as Randy will be coming from Utah and we are not sure at this time, if a GPS treasure hunt is in the plans. See you in Dove Springs.
